Finally!!! Video from the new Canon!!!

'09 Thanksgiving Flight, with Trey (and Antony!) from Peter Rosen on Vimeo.

This is HUGE! Been trying ever since 11/26 to figure out how to USE the videos this new camera takes!! I thought "HD" just meant BETTER - no one bothered to tell me it also means the videos can't be uploaded the same way! And today I also learned how to get this great music track on here! I hope you get a kick out of it!

A Flight off The Knob, 8/8/09

Flying from The Knob on 8 8 09 from Peter Rosen on Vimeo.

It was another awesomely beautiful day in Pacific Valley. Not much lift to be found, very smooth air, and the wind sock was set up, telling me in which direction to land, so I was surprised to find myself running after touching down. So maybe if my running had been a bit more enthusiastic . . . but as it was, the glider eventually caught up, passed me, and nosed in, albeit gently enough to still give myself a thumbs up, yeehaha. Next video will be in my new RED harness!

Also, flew again with Trey, a week later, but my camera malfunctioned, so the only record of that one is on his blog: www.treykropp.blogspot.com

June 27, Trey and Me Flying Wild Cattle - Together!

Trey and I finally, finally got into the air at the same time! The coast was so socked in with fog all the way to Pacific Valley that I gave our chances of getting in a flight, like zilch. But as we came around the bend at PV, there was some blue sky, and the fog, covering the whole ocean, opened up right across the LZ - unbelievable! So Trey had one camera on his keel, behind him, and another in his pocket, which he took out a few times, and I had one on my keel, and Trey spliced all three videos together into a beautiful, 4 minute record of a totally beautiful day! Check it out, from his blog: www.TreyKropp.blogspot.com Thanks, Trey!

Clear Ridge, May 24, '09

Clear Ridge 5 24 09 from Peter Rosen on Vimeo.

It was soarable! But a moment's hesitation, and the chance to fly up above where I'd launched was gone, so nothing left to do but try to make it to the LZ, which I'd reached from that ridge twice before, on less windy days. This time, the headwind told me I wasn't going to make it. But I promised on my last post to show the landing of the next flight, so here it is. Thanks so much to Tracy for rescuing the glider - again!

In the Nick of Time!

In the Nick of Time! from Peter Rosen on Vimeo.

Another gorgeous Big Sur day! And I DID see that there was FOG forming down there, south of the LZ, but didn't give it much thought! In just the few minutes I was in the air, the fog had rolled on in, and as I was setting up my landing, it just kept coming - fast enough that I really felt I had to get down to the ground right now! I promise to include the landing - next time!

Mothers Day at Wild Cattle

Mothers Day at Wild Cattle from Peter Rosen on Vimeo.

It was another one of these Big Sur days that just couldn't have been any nicer. There's still about a minute left of a nice piece from the Destination Buddha Lounge album, after the 2" video ends . . . Happy Mothers Day!

Easter Sunday Flight - Coast Ridge Road - The Ledge

Just could not have been a nicer day! And OK, was a little too high when I turned onto final, so had to dive to get into the field, but had time to level out and flare, and oops, another landing with all kinds of room for having done it better - ah well, back to the drawing board on the landings, just need to give myself more practice!

First Marina Beach Video

Still trying to get my first video into this blog! Seems the only way to see if I'm doing it right is to publish it, so here goes . . . In this flight, the wind at launch was so perfect that I zipped up my harness, something I rarely do, and flew south, another thing I don't very often try. And it felt so good to cross the gap that I just kept going! For maybe 20 minutes, and then 180'd and started to come back. By then, the wind had increased and become gusty, and some turbulence tossed me out of the lift. Had to land on the beach, but was too busy to free a hand to unzip! That's why I'm still prone when I touch down . . . stay tuned, the next clip has to be better! And thanks to Trey, for all the much needed help in figuring this whole thing out! And, if this writing shows up with no video, I still haven't figured it out!

A first page . . .

Any blog of 1000 pages has to start with a first entry, so here's mine - and now that I have one of these oh-so-cool tiny video cameras, this will soon be followed with some flying footage - stay tuned . . .
